(SHADA: TEHRAN) -- Farhad Dejpasand stated that the purpose of establishing this fund was to compensate part of the financial damages caused by natural disasters such as earthquakes, floods, storms, lightning and frost.
Governments have been pursuing the establishment of this fund for almost two decades, and God willing, this goal will be achieved from today, the Minister of Economy said.
Given that our country is on the verge of natural crises such as floods, earthquakes and other natural disasters, the establishment of the fund was one of the serious needs of the country's economy, Dejpasand reminded.
The establishment of the fund will lead to the reassurance and comfort of citizens and residents of different regions of the country who are exposed to natural disasters, he said.
The Minister of Economy stated that all activists in the insurance industry and crisis management know that when a crisis or accident occurs in the country, a lot of pressure is put on the public budget, and this fund can save the government budget.
He further noted that the government is currently spending a lot of money to deal with crises, which puts a lot of pressure on public budgets.
The Natural Disaster Insurance Fund has a stable and established procedure, and it will both help the government and reassure the owners of residential units in the event of an accident to compensate for their damages, the Minister of Economy said.
In the flood incident at the beginning of 1398, we also witnessed that the compensation for the provinces whose houses and agricultural products were insured placed a significantly less burden on the government, because the insurers were responsible for compensating the victims, Dejpasand said.
It should be noted that membership in this fund, unlike other insurances, is not optional and is mandatory, which increases its effectiveness.
The comprehensiveness of the composition of the Fund's Board of Trustees indicates the will of the government and parliament to form the Fund as soon as possible, the Minister of Economy added.
Referring to the rapid formation, approval of the Articles of Association and the appointment of the Fund's CEO in the first meeting of the Board of Trustees, he added: The method of financing the fund was also discussed today and it was decided that the representative of the Planning and Budget Organization would follow up on the matter with the help of the members. The board of trustees is scheduled to follow up on all matters related to the fund within the next month.
Referring to the election of the CEO of the Fund in today's meeting with the decisive vote of the majority of the Board of Trustees, Dejpasand described this event as a sign of the government's serious determination to achieve the goals of establishing the fund.
It is worth mentioning that in this meeting, the members of the Board of Trustees of the Natural Disaster Insurance Fund unanimously elected Reza Kazemi Taklimi as the CEO.
